Penggunaan Soal Keterampilan Proses Sains untuk Mengetahui Profil Kemampuan Siswa SMP dalam Menerapkan Konsep

Abstract

Rendahnya skor PISA 2015 yang diperoleh Indonesia pada Literasi Sains masih menjadi permasalahan yang dihadapi Indonesia hingga saat ini. Salah satu faktor yang menjadi penyebab rendahnya skor PISA khususnya pada literasi sains adalah karena siswa belum terbiasa dalam menyelesaikan tes atau masalah yang berhubungan dengan keterampilan proses sains yang merupakan bagian utama literasi sains. Keterampilan proses sains adalah proses melakukan sains yang para ilmuan gunakan, hal ini adalah keterampilan yang digunakan dalam kehidupan seharihari. Soal keterampilan proses sains yang dibuat adalah berbentuk pilihan ganda yang didalamnya terdapat empat pilihan jawaban, soal yang dibuat mengandung konten Pesawat Sederhana. Pesawat sederhana adalah alat yang dapat mempermudah aktivitas manusia. Penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengukur keterampilan menerapkan konsep pesawat sederhana pada siswa SMP kelas VIII, didapatkan hasil bahwa dari 30 siswa terdapat 40% siswa yang menjawab benar pada indikator KPS Menerapkan Konsep (1) yang mana termasuk kategori kurang terampil dan terdapat 60% siswa yang menjawab benar pada indikator (2) yang termasuk kategori cukup terampil. Secara garis besar faktor yang mempengaruhi rendahnya keterampilan proses sains siswa terjadi karena kurangnya optimalisasi pembelajaran yang melibatkan peran siswa. Rendahnya keterampilan proses sains (KPS) pada akhirnya bermuara pada rendahnya hasil belajar sains siswa. Sehingga untuk rekomendasi selanjutnya diperlukan pembelajaran yang dapat melibatkan peran siswa yaitu STEM (Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The low result of PISA score in 2015 obtained by Indonesia in Science Literacy is still a problem faced by Indonesia until this time. One of the factors that causes the low PISA score especially in scientific literacy is because students are not used to completing tests or problems related to science process skills which are a main part of scientific literacy. Science process skills are the process of carrying out the science that scientists use, this is a skill used in everyday life. The Science Process Skills Test is multiple choices in which there are four choices of answers, the questions made contain Simple Machine content. Simple Machine are tools that can facilitate human activities. Research has been carried out to measure the skills of applying the concept of a simple aircraft to junior high school students of class VIII, the results showed that of 30 students there were 40% of students who answered correctly on PPP indicators Applying the Concept (1) which included the less skilled category and 60% of students answered true on indicator (2) which belongs to the fairly skilled category. The factors that influence students' low science process skills occur because of a lack of optimization of learning involving the role of students. The low level of science process skills (SPS) leads to low student learning outcomes. So for further recommendations learning is needed that can involve the role of students, namely STEM (Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
