Abstract

This study discusses records management and employee competencies in archival work at Bank X. Effective records management requires competent human resources, both technically and functionally, making this issue crucial. The purpose of this research is to describe the records management system, employee characteristics and competencies, as well as the challenges and strategies for developing competencies in archival management. A descriptive qualitative method was applied, with informants consisting of the records officer, tellers, Customer Service staff, credit analysts, the branch head, and the operations department. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, then processed through stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and result verification. SWOT analysis was also employed to strengthen the findings. The results show that records management at Bank X has been carried out fairly well, although limitations in employee competence remain. These limitations are mainly due to educational backgrounds that are not aligned with archival work and the lack of specialized training. The strategies implemented focus on enhancing training programs, providing technical assistance, and raising employee awareness of the importance of systematic and proper records management.
